Ward Campout and Other Happenings

Our ward had a camp out at Pinetop this weekend. It was so much fun. We did it as a celebration of our "Survivor" emergency preparedness activity throughout the year. Our ward has been working on our preparation and we had 6 challenges. I was going to post those challenges and I didn't, so sorry about that. If you are interested in knowing what the challenges were let us know. Pinetop is a Church owned camp that is about an hour away from Boise. It had a huge main lodge and 8 cabins. Lucky for us not too many families were interested in the cabins so Scott and I got a huge cabin all to ourselves. It was sweet. It was one of the furthest away so no one checked it out or wanted it. That was lucky for us because it was the only cabin with electricity and its own bathroom. It was awesome.

There was also a swimming pool and basketball court and a huge grass area. Unfortunately the grass was over watered and too boggy to allow us to play any serious games like capture the flag or something equally sweet. I went over to Hart and Jory's to borrow some camping supplies and last minute arranged to leave Corbin with them. It was a great decision. Scott and I had tons of fun doing whatever we wanted. We weren't running after our crazy little bubba the whole time.

When we got there a lot of people went swimming before dinner. I missed all of Scott's tricks while I was helping out in the kitchen. We ate some yummy dinner and gathered some youth to play a few rounds of Spit/Nertz before the camp fire. We then gathered around the campfire to sing songs. My mom would have loved it. It was pretty fun for the first half hour but it kept going and going. It became quite painful to be frank. After that we played some more card games followed by Scott entertaining the crowd with some karaoke of "Jailhouse Rock" and "Bad Bad Leroy Brown." I wasn't feeling too good by that point. I had eaten too much junk food and being pregnant my body can't handle that. I finally dragged Scott to bed at 1:00am and when we arrived at the cabin I had the luxury of vomiting in my own private bathroom. Too much information I'm sure. The next day we had some less-than-stellar egg muffin sandwiches for breakfast. Usually I love them, but the english muffins really need to be toasted and these weren't. Translation, I took a few bites and had to run to the bathroom. Between girls camp and this camp out I have officially vetoed english muffins for camp outs. GROSS! We then cleaned up and cleared out. It was a lot of fun.

Here was our hidden cabin. The boxy section had the kitchen and bathroom and the long section had three bedrooms. Probably 20 people could have slept in there but it was just me and Scott.

Earlier this week Corbin woke up at 10:00pm with a vomit-filled crib. We got him cleaned up and calmed down but he still vomited two more times after that. Lucky for Corbin and us he slept the rest of the night and was just a bit more tired with less of an appetite the next day. Another baby in our ward had the flu the whole week and he had diarrhea and was vomiting all day for a week! Corbin has never been that sick; that would be horrible!

I went to take Corbin back to bed and he proceeded to barf all over me. There was nothing I could do because I wanted to contain the mess. Baked beans, bananas, and bile = it was pretty nasty.

He fell asleep on the couch watching his movie the next day at 10:30am, an hour and a half before his regular nap time. He never does that. I don't think he's fallen asleep on the couch since he was about 3 months old.

He was being extra cuddly that day.

We had Corbin wear his new suit to church for the first time. He looked very dapper.

Scott is obsessed with matching. When he realized he and Corbin were both wearing navy pinstriped suits he ran and changed his tie to yellow from blue so that he could complete the ensemble (less the "mandatory" white shirt for priesthood holders). They do look very cute. My boys, love them!

Corbin is such a cutie in that suit. He actually looks all grown up.

Isn't it so sad to see your baby puking? I always feel so helpless, and you know they're absolutely miserable. I hope he's feeling better.

Sounds like you had fun at the campout besides maybe the English muffins and the vomiting part. You lucked out on that cabin. We miss cabins. Glad to hear that Corbin is feeling better. It's so sad when they're sick. Cute pictures of the boys matching.
