Scott and I couldn't decide what to do when told about the fun weekend in Utah coming up. We were just plain sick and tired of driving and I had other plans. We went back and forth and finally decided to join the festivities in Utah for the Janet-mom's birthday weekend extravaganza. After we had finally decided and were ready to leave Thursday morning Corbin did not feel well. We aren't sure what was wrong but he had a fever and he was crying all morning long. We couldn't think of anything worse than taking a sick baby on a road trip so after all of the drama we decided not to go. Well I guess Corbin really wanted to go because he got a good afternoon nap and woke up happy as could be. So we decided heck, let's go. We finished packing and got on the road at 4:00 pm to arrive at our destination at Daniel's Summit Lodge in Heber City, UT at 11:00 pm. Getting Corbin to fall asleep at a hotel was a challenge where you can't just let the baby cry it out at 1:00 in the morning. He finally went down and didn't wake up for the rest of the night.
We woke up early to go swimming in the hotel pool that was freezing! I stuck with the hot tub. Poor Corbin was freezing in the pool and we had to partially let him warm up in the hot tub. After that we went to breakfast and the rest of the Cannons went to the Heber City Swiss Days, while Scott and I decided to drive so our baby could take a nap. We went to the Park City Outlet malls. After that we met up with the rest of the fam at the Alpine Slide. It was my first time and it was so fun. We also went on the Alpine Coaster which was awesome, it's a roller coaster in the mountains.
We went to Salt Lake City for the rest of the weekend and enjoyed Hires and a picnic in the canyon. We played games and I robbed everyone silly on the last hand of Tripoly. We went to dinner at Little America on Janet's birthday and then came home to birthday cake, and homemade ice-cream. Our Labor Day started out with breakfast with our friends followed by an endless drive. We were about 30 miles from Boise when we got stuck in stop and go traffic for 2 1/2 hours because of a crash. It was awful we were so close, yet so far from home. When we finally got home we had been in the car for 8 hours and Corbin was not a happy camper, but who would be? All in all it was a great weekend. Thank goodness the Cannons have birthdays that are not merely a day but days of continued celebration.

Daniel's Lodge Summit where we all stayed for one night.

Carole and Aaron came up from San Diego and there's Nicole and the mom on the way up to the slide.

Here we are dragging our sleds to the slide.

Here's Grumps taking care of Corbin, this is a typical occurrence.

We had breakfast with Richard and Cat (left) and Royce, Annika, and Bridget (right)

Here's the detour from the freeway this was our view for 2 1/2 hours!
Here we are sliding down the mountain. It was fun.

That looks like so much fun! I wish we could've done something for Labor Day...ah well. So I heard about the wreck. The lady came up on the freeway going the wrong direction and was smashed into by a semi truck. Sorry to hear you were stuck in the traffic..glad to see you're back safe.
Is it supposed to be "Grumps" or "Gramps"? Glad Corbin felt better and you were able to have a good time.
That looks like so much fun. Wish we could hang out with everyone too.
